Our Mission

We provide compassionate and patient-centered eye care [including comprehensive and diabetic eye exams, standard and specialty contact lens fittings, and eye disease diagnosis and management] to families and patients of all ages.  We are set up with the latest testing technology and a wide variety of frame inventory so the majority of patients’ eye concerns can be taken care of without having to travel out of town. We strive to help patients maximize their vision and learn more about their eyes in a positive, friendly environment.

Services Offered:

Comprehensive Eye Exams

The American Optometric Association recommends a yearly eye exam for patients of all ages. A comprehensive eye exam with Dr. Owens includes checking your vision to determine if a prescription is necessary as well as a thorough evaluation of the internal and external health of your eyes. Just because you can see well without glasses does not mean your eyes are healthy so it's important to have them looked at regularly to catch any changes that could affect your vision over time.

Diabetic Eye Exams

Did you know that fluctuations in blood sugar can result in vision changes? Not only can the effects of diabetes cause a shift in glasses prescription, eye health can be affected as well. Fluctuations in blood sugar levels can cause damage to the blood vessels throughout the body over time causing them to weaken and become leaky. When Dr. Owens evaluates your eye health, she can see if there are any leaky blood vessels inside your eyes. If the blood vessels inside your eyes are leaking (called diabetic retinopathy), chances are they are also leaking elsewhere in your body (think heart, kidneys, lungs, etc.) and it's a sign your blood sugar needs to be under better control. Diabetic retinopathy can permanently affect your vision and in extreme cases even cause blindness if ignored. Dr. Owens always communicates the results of your diabetic eye exam with your primary care provider so they can determine if a change in treatment is necessary. Getting your yearly eye exam can help catch changes early to prevent progression that could permanently affect your vision.

Ocular Disease Management

Dr. Owens is trained and equipped to diagnose and manage many eye diseases and conditions such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, keratoconus, cataracts, dry eyes, and more. If further care with an eye specialist or surgeon is necessary, Dr. Owens has great working relationships with many ophthalmologists around Southwest Montana who can assist in caring for your eyes and preserving your vision.

Urgent Eye Care

Examination, diagnosis, and treatment of situations that fall outside of routine eye care. Flashes and floaters, red or painful eyes, headaches, sudden loss of vision, foreign body removal, and more.

Pre- & Post-Operative Care

Dr. Owens can provide pre- and post-operative care for patients undergoing refractive surgery, cataract surgery, and other eye procedures. She is happy to answer any questions you may have as well as walk you through the surgery process step-by-step from start to finish so you will know exactly what to expect before, during, and after surgery.

Prescription and Non-Prescription Sunglasses

Summer is coming! Protecting your eyes from UV light can slow down the progression of cataracts, decrease your risk of developing macular degeneration, and prevent sun damage that causes cancer. Polarized sunglasses help reduce glare and are great for all sorts of summer activities you might find yourself doing while enjoying beautiful Montana. We have a great selection of prescription and non-prescription sunglasses for you to choose from. Some of the glasses frames in our optical even come with magnetic sunglass attachments! Sunglass brands we have available are:

Zeal (owned by Maui Jim), Life is Good, Ducks Unlimited, Eco, and DKNY.

Soft Contact Lenses

Contact lenses are a great option for sports, spending time outdoors, or everyday wear. We have multiple contact lens modalities (monthly replacement, two-week replacement, daily disposable) in all the major brands available. There are contact lens options available for MOST prescriptions, including astigmatism and multi-focal lenses. Not sure if contacts are a good option for you or haven't had luck with them in the past? Dr. Owens loves the challenge of figuring out which contact lens option might work for you!

Specialty Contact Lenses

Soft contact lenses don't work for everyone. Sometimes ocular surface disease or corneal irregularities prevent soft contacts and even prescription glasses from providing clear, comfortable vision. Dr. Owens has an extremely high success rate fitting scleral lenses, which are a special kind of rigid contacts.
